Black and Gold took many by surprise all over in the UK, and as a result, made the top five of the British charts based on download sales alone. The single was tipped to turn one of the biggest sellers of the year, and spent a numeral of weeks at number two; Sam was denied the top spot by 4 Minutes from Madonna and Justin Timberlake.
Chart Performance
Black and Gold has reached the top five in Australia (#4), Ireland (#5), Turkey (#5), Europe (#5), and charted highest in the United Kingdom (#2).
The single too made the top twenty in Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, India, Italy and New Zealand.
Black and Gold has likewise peaked at #36 on the United World Chart.

I had never heard of Sam Sparro until I received an email telling me I should check extinct Black and Gold. After seeing the clip, I wanted to find out everything about him, and I too bought the digital individual the get-go day it was released � and I accept NEVER done that for any digital single!
This single had to be a hit; on that point was no way it couldn�t. And if this is exactly one call, I can�t wait for the rest of them. The song has a great pop feel, one that you can change by reversal the volume up on and feature your bass system making you seem fully sick! It is definitely matchless of the highlighted releases by an Australian creative person this year. Get worked up about Sam now ahead everybody else does. - CP
